His career has given him a wide variety of experiences, peppered with colorful encounters and tasty anecdotes. Eric's maritime stories are well written and took me along, allowing me to share his passion and his emotions. At the end of the day, it's the miles sailed and shared with others that make the life of a sailor so special... and I found myself there.

More than a book, this story is a good dose of optimism (be careful! the author is contagious) and a great life lesson. A fine example of a maritime career that could encourage future generations of sailors.

When reading "At the helm of my life", you become enthralled by the adventures of the author, who has no shortage of humour nor modesty when it comes to sharing his maritime and human experiences with us. There's the phlegm of a captain who knows that nothing on his ship is insignificant, and the maritime explanations are so clear that you feel like a peerless sailor, I can't wait for the sequel! I'm a fan!

What a life ! I enjoyed reading the exciting adventures of Eric Saint Plancat, told in a pleasant and lively style that draws you in from start to finish. We embark alongside him from the first pages, and we can no longer leave him! This inspiring book is therapy, whether you are interested in the maritime environment or not: it shows that it is still possible to live differently, as long as you dare to venture out onto the side roads. Passion is the common thread of the story as well as of the author's life, and it is contagious. The images perfectly illustrate the story and make it even more real to us. A great discovery; I can't wait to read more!

About the author

Master Mariner, Eric Saint Plancat has been criss-crossing the oceans for over thirty years. He has commanded a wide variety of vessels - traditional sailboats and prestigious yachts, specialized ro-ro cargo ships and polar expedition vessels - acquiring an exceptional experience along the way.

Alongside this exhilarating career, Eric lived aboard his own sailboat for over fifteen years, taking his family on a personal odyssey that took them from France to New Zealand, crossing the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Pacific under sail. Now based on Vancouver Island, Eric sails in his spare time through the grandiose scenery of British Columbia.

An unusual life path, which Eric shares in this inspiring story.
