SILVER EXPLORER - From Tahiti to Valparaiso

November 2023

The last voyage of the Silver Explorer under the colors of Silversea, before its operation by Exploris. Three weeks of crossing from West to East across the immense Pacific Ocean, from French Polynesia to Chile.

Tahiti, the Austral archipelago, the Gambiers archipelago, Pitcairn, Easter Island, Robinson Crusoe, and Valparaiso…

Raivavae, Austral Archipelago, French Polynesia

A very warm welcome from the local population in Raivavae, in the purest Polynesian tradition. Flower necklaces, Tahitian buffet, traditional music and dance, not forgetting the smiles of these inhabitants from the other side of the world.

Rapa Iti, Austral Archipelago, French Polynesia

Rapa Iti (little Rapa), is particularly spectacular seen from the heights of its steep relief. Here again, the welcome was very warm, with dances and choreographies close to Maori culture.

Mangareva, Gambiers Archipelago, French Polynesia

Stopover at Mangareva, the very place where we arrived for the first time in Polynesia aboard Maritéa, more than eleven years ago. Here, nothing has changed; these distant and timeless islands are preserved from the frenzy of the modern world.

Adamstown, Pitcairn

Stopover in one of the most isolated communities on the planet, inhabited by the descendants of the Bounty mutineers.

Rapa Nui, Easter Island

Highlight of the trip, a much-awaited and well-deserved stopover with two days at sea from the Pitcairn archipelago, Easter Island and its majestic Moas truly captivated us.

Two days of stopover to discover this place with its mysterious energy and fascinating history, nothing less was needed.

Robinson Crusoe, Chile

Port of entry in Chile and last stop before arriving in Valparaiso, Robinson Crusoe is the only inhabited island of the Juan Fernandez archipelago, located 600 km from the Chilean coast.

The last voyage of the Silver Explorer

The end of this long journey across the Pacific Ocean was charged with particular emotion, as the Silversea crew prepared to handover the ship to her new owner, the Exploris company, after seventeen years of operations on all the oceans of the world.

An important page is turning in the life of this ship, which will continue her adventures in the hands of a new crew, led by Captain Eric Saint Plancat.
